Bio

Duncan Ireland

Growing up in Norfolk in the UK I was inspired to take up photography when my parents gave me my first camera, an Olympus Trip, for Christmas at the age of 12. Later when I began studying at University I spent my grant on a Nikon F2A and that led me to developing the photographic style that I continue today.

When I started to use the F2A I had to switch to using my right eye through the viewfinder because of the protruding winding lever that had to remain out to activate the light meter, the F2A and the eye switching required for me to use it set me on the path to the photographic style that I'm continuing to develop.

In the last ten years I've been lucky to live in some great parts of the UK; Aberdeen, Nottinghamshire, Aberdeen again, Staffordshire and I've recently returned to Scotland and settled in Dumfries and Galloway.

My current photographic interests lie in portraying the variety of human activity that I find around me through black and white documentary photography.
