How and Why This group of hounds are out for their morning exercise run. They move at a fast pace and thankfully I was able to keep ahead by hitching a ride on a quad bike. The viewpoint from the quad gave me some excellent photographic opportunities (including this and this) and despite limited time and uninspiring light I got some images that I am happy with. Here the hounds are in tight formation, jostling for position as they make their way along a narrow single-track road. The formation of the hounds was continually changing and I had to work very fast to capture a pleasing composition as I saw the scene develop. In this image the wide angle of view created by the 17-35 mm lens at 17 mm has aided the composition guiding the eye through the scene along the line of the road to the quad bringing up the rear. For this image I've angled the camera to accentuate the diagonal line running from bottom right to top left, in doing so I've also been able to include more depth within the scene by using the diagonal rather than being confined to the more limited space that framing the scene horizontally would have created. |
