How and Why
Panning has tremendous potential with any moving horse subject - in this case I zoomed out wide to make sure that I kept the subject in the frame during the pan. This was my first visit to Appleby and in my subsequent visit I took some similar pictures based on the good results I got during this visit. Being able to review the result on a digital SLR makes getting this sort of image much easier.
As with this picture the reflections in the wet road really set the image off well
The composition with the subject dead centre helps to add to the impact of the picture.
